About Carmina

Carmina Barnett has always had a love for Gospel Music, so it was a natural

progression for her to pursue a career where she could share that love with

the world. She began her broadcasting career in 2000, and a year later, the door

opened for her to join Dallas and Fort Worth’s only 24-hour Gospel

Music Station, Heaven 97, KHVN. From there, she has become the host of

the Praise Drive, heard each weekday in the Afternoon Drive. She also hosted the

Homegrown Gospel Show on Saturdays. Homegrown Gospel was a tradition at KHVN

for many years. Developed by the legendary Bro. Joe Bagby, and the legacy

continued with Carmina. The phenomenal show focused on up and coming Gospel Artists from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex by giving them a spotlight to

share their music and ministry.

 

In 2009, was appointed as the Program Director for KHVN and

subsequently led the station to win its first Stellar Award for Major Market

Radio Station of the Year in 2011. In addition to the music programming,

Carmina also oversaw the station’s promotions and production.

 

As Program Director of KHVN, Carmina worked diligently to strengthen the

relationship between KHVN and the community.  Her hard work and efforts

catapulted KHVN to being an award-winning station with national

recognition. 

 

In 2018, Carmina was promoted to Director of Operations for the Mortenson

Broadcasting Dallas Office and would then oversees all 3 Mortenson radio stations

in the DFW Area:  Heaven 97, KHVN, KGGR 1040am and KKGM

1630am. As Director of Operations, her responsibilities covered overseeing the on-air content and talent, digital footprint and music programming for all three stations.

 

Continuing her passion in the radio industry, in 2019 she launched the the syndicated show “Inspirations with Carmina” which was extended to various markets beyond D/FW.  Carmina is most fulfilled by her services to the community. She is dedicated to contributing and having a positive impact, and has developed partnerships

with many local schools, educational organizations, ministries and non profit

organizations, and participates both professionally and personally in a host

of community activities. She has also received countless awards and

accolades for her passion, wealth of programming experience and creativity.
